Detail of Trotter Furniture An Italian Stipo or Medicine Cabinet

Paxton House is furnished with most of the original pieces purchased from Chippendale, Haig and Company in the latter half of the Eighteenth Century for the rooms they still occupy.

Paxton House was extended in the Regency period and still retains its splendid collection of furniture by the Edinburgh cabinet maker William Trotter.

Throughout the house the visitor will see antique furniture, books, paintings and costumes that relate to the Grand Tour undertaken by Patrick Home, the first owner of Paxton House.
