                   ‘Hayloft Gallery Exhibitions’

April 23rd - May 19th    ~ 'Crossing Borders'
Photographic Exhibition in the Hayloft Gallery, ending Monday 19th May 2008.
Two local photographers - Ron McCombe from Leitholm and Jim Gibson from Norham - have collaborated to show a wide selection of stunning images.

Ron is a countryside management consultant, a profession which allows him to follow his passion for wildlife, in particular birds. He has travelled across Europe and America, as well as closer to home, to provide the fascinating array of photographs in this display.  www.ronmccombe.com

Jim trained as a photographer while in the navy and in part his work reflects this although the collection chosen for this exhibition encompasses local landscapes, portraits and military themes reflecting the broad span of his work.

May 21st  - June 9th  - Ann Bushell original paintings and sculptures,  plus David Green seascape photography.

Ann Bushell

"I paint animals because I enjoy capturing the personality, humour and character of each individual. Animals play a large role in our lives, and I like to show them as the individuals that they are, not all sheep look the same!

I have painted and made sculptures for casting in Bronze since the 1990Æs and my work is in many private homes all over the world, from Norway to South Africa, and from the Far East to America.  When undertaking a sculpture I use many photographs and measurements to ensure an accurate portrait.

The Exhibition and Sale of Work at Paxton House is my second Joint Exhibition - the first was in Wimbledon in the 1990Æs. The majority of my work is to commission. My watercolour paintings are completed from a selection of photographs supplied by the customer or taken by myself.

Please visit my website to see where I will be showing and selling my work in 2008   -    www.annbushell.co.uk

I will have some new original paintings, a small range of signed limited edition prints and several greetings cards of my paintings available for sale."

DAVID GREEN

LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHER

DavidÆs interest and appreciation of the landscape stems from his days as a geography teacher, spending many hours on field courses amongst the beautiful scenery around Britain.

Having left the teaching profession in 1985 David developed his hobby of photography into a business æYorkshire DalescapesÆ.

Over many years he has published a wide range of postcards, greetings cards, calendars and prints of his native Yorkshire especially the Dales.

Following a relocation to Northumberland in 2006, David has renamed the business æTruenorthÆ and expanded his range of images to include Northumbria and Cumbria with Yorkshire.

All of DavidÆs distinctive photographs have been shot on Praktica and Pentax 35m cameras; originally using Kodachrome 25 and more recently Fuji Velvia 50 slide film.  He will continue using these traditional and true methods while they remain available.

The 2008 Truenorth Calendar celebrates the distinctive scenery of three very special northern counties Northumberland, Cumbria and Yorkshire.  My 2009 Calendar will be available in July. www.truenorthphotography.co.uk

A Jane Ellis photography exhibition
In this day and age, as the pace of our lives seems to ever quicken, busy road systems, fast food and even faster technology, life does not always allow for time out.
This new exhibition involves work using water as a key element.
Reflective, Moody, Diverse
From the mighty Tweed to the mirror-like reflections of a Scottish Loch to the solitude of a deserted Northumbrian beach;  water's calming influence makes us stop and take time out even if just for an hour or two while we all try to seek some tranquillity...!
